PPEC for Children with Feeding Disorders

Feeding therapy and nursing support for children with pediatric feeding disorders across Miami-Dade and South Broward — oral aversion, dysphagia, failure to thrive, and tube feeding.

    What is Feeding Disorders?

Pediatric feeding disorders include oral aversion, dysphagia, failure to thrive, severe reflux, tube dependence, and sensory-based feeding challenges. These conditions often require a coordinated approach between nursing, feeding therapy, and the treating physician.

How PPEC Helps Children with Feeding Disorders

At Blessed Pediatric Care, feeding goals are part of the daily plan. Nurses deliver scheduled tube feedings and oral feeds, while speech and occupational therapists work on oral-motor coordination, swallowing safety, and graded food exposure under physician orders.

    Does Medicaid Cover PPEC Services?

Yes. Florida Medicaid covers Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) when a treating physician certifies medical necessity. Blessed Pediatric Care is a Medicaid-enrolled PPEC provider serving Miami-Dade and South Broward families. Our intake team verifies eligibility, obtains prior authorization, and coordinates the plan of care at no cost to your family.

    Does Transportation Qualify?

Yes. Medicaid-covered non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) is typically available for children authorized for PPEC services. Blessed Pediatric Care helps families across Miami Gardens, North Miami, Opa-Locka, Hialeah, Aventura, Miami Lakes, Miramar, Pembroke Pines, Hollywood, and Hallandale Beach schedule daily pickups and drop-offs.

    How Admission Works

Admission begins with a physician referral and a current History & Physical. Our intake team obtains the plan of care, verifies Medicaid eligibility, schedules a tour of our Miami Gardens facility, and works with the child's medical team to start care — usually within days of approval. Families are welcome to call (305) 260-6621 or submit a referral online.
