PPEC for Children with Tracheostomy Care

Skilled nursing for children with tracheostomies across Miami Gardens, Hollywood, Hialeah, and Miramar — RN-led trach care, suctioning, and 1:1 monitoring as ordered.

    What is Tracheostomy Care?

A tracheostomy is a surgical opening in the neck that supports a child's breathing. Children with trachs require continuous monitoring, regular suctioning, sterile site care, and a team trained to respond to mucus plugs, accidental decannulation, and respiratory distress.

How PPEC Helps Children with Tracheostomy Care

Blessed Pediatric Care is staffed to support children with tracheostomies during the day, allowing parents to work or rest while their child receives medical-grade care in a structured environment. Our RNs are trained in pediatric trach protocols and emergency response.

    Does Medicaid Cover PPEC Services?

Yes. Florida Medicaid covers Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) when a treating physician certifies medical necessity. Blessed Pediatric Care is a Medicaid-enrolled PPEC provider serving Miami-Dade and South Broward families. Our intake team verifies eligibility, obtains prior authorization, and coordinates the plan of care at no cost to your family.

    Does Transportation Qualify?

Yes. Medicaid-covered non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) is typically available for children authorized for PPEC services. Blessed Pediatric Care helps families across Miami Gardens, North Miami, Opa-Locka, Hialeah, Aventura, Miami Lakes, Miramar, Pembroke Pines, Hollywood, and Hallandale Beach schedule daily pickups and drop-offs.

    How Admission Works

Admission begins with a physician referral and a current History & Physical. Our intake team obtains the plan of care, verifies Medicaid eligibility, schedules a tour of our Miami Gardens facility, and works with the child's medical team to start care — usually within days of approval. Families are welcome to call (305) 260-6621 or submit a referral online.
