PPEC for Premature Infants and Post-NICU Babies

A safe, nurse-staffed transition from the NICU for premature infants in Miami Gardens, Hialeah, North Miami, and surrounding communities.

    What is Prematurity?

Premature infants — especially those born before 32 weeks — often go home from the NICU with ongoing medical needs: apnea monitoring, oxygen, feeding support, slow weight gain, and the risk of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). The first year after NICU discharge is critical for development.

How PPEC Helps Children with Prematurity

PPEC offers parents a medical alternative to home care or daycare during this critical window. Blessed Pediatric Care provides RN-led monitoring, structured developmental therapy, and a low-infection-risk environment designed for medically fragile infants.

    Does Medicaid Cover PPEC Services?

Yes. Florida Medicaid covers Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) when a treating physician certifies medical necessity. Blessed Pediatric Care is a Medicaid-enrolled PPEC provider serving Miami-Dade and South Broward families. Our intake team verifies eligibility, obtains prior authorization, and coordinates the plan of care at no cost to your family.

    Does Transportation Qualify?

Yes. Medicaid-covered non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) is typically available for children authorized for PPEC services. Blessed Pediatric Care helps families across Miami Gardens, North Miami, Opa-Locka, Hialeah, Aventura, Miami Lakes, Miramar, Pembroke Pines, Hollywood, and Hallandale Beach schedule daily pickups and drop-offs.

    How Admission Works

Admission begins with a physician referral and a current History & Physical. Our intake team obtains the plan of care, verifies Medicaid eligibility, schedules a tour of our Miami Gardens facility, and works with the child's medical team to start care — usually within days of approval. Families are welcome to call (305) 260-6621 or submit a referral online.
